Despite recycling efforts, 8 of 10 plastic water bottles end up in our landfills.  According to the Container Recycling Institute (CRI), more than 50 billion beverage cans and bottles are landfilled, littered and incinerated in the country every year.

In 2006, it took more than 17 million barrels of oil (excluding the oil used in transporting the plastic) to produce plastic bottles.
